It is prevalent among 0,5% of urban Jakarta adults and 0,8% among the total population of Indonesia. It is the leading cause of death among Indonesian above 5 years of age and comprises 15,4% of all deaths. Risk factor include poorly managed hypertension, smoking, and hypercholesterolaemia.

RSAW’s Brain Center treats disorders of the nervous system. This includes diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles such as strokes, epilepsy (seizures), headaches, Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and various forms of pain.
